Kids Zone

Sally’s Ride isn’t just for cyclists, it’s a day the whole family can enjoy! Thanks to the support of St.Lukes Health, we’re excited to bring you the Kids Zone, packed with fun activities to keep young ones entertained throughout the event.

Children can enjoy:

  • 🎨 Face Painting

  • 🎲 Games and activities

  • 🚲 Bike-friendly fun designed for little riders

The Kids Zone offers a safe and welcoming space for families to relax, play, and enjoy the event atmosphere. While staff and volunteers will be on hand to help, parental guidance is still required, so you can keep an eye on your little ones while they make the most of the activities.

It’s the perfect way for families to be part of the day together—whether Dad is out on the course, Mum is cheering from the sidelines, or the kids are busy enjoying the fun.

Sally’s Ride started in 2002 when Sally Fletcher rode 1,400km solo around Tasmania raising funds for youth mental health in Tasmania. In 2009, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Central Launceston, the event was expanded to include different cycling opportunities for riders of all fitness and abilities.

Pre-Ride Dinner – Saturday Night

Before the big day, join us for a relaxed Pre-Ride Dinner on Saturday night, the perfect way to connect with fellow riders, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters of Sally’s Ride.

The evening will feature great food, good company, and plenty of cycling stories to set the tone for Sunday’s challenge. This year, we’re especially excited to welcome Australian cycling legend Danny Clark OAM, who will not only speak at the dinner but also join us on the ride itself.

Danny’s extraordinary career spans more than two decades as a professional cyclist, earning him five world championships, 74 six-day race victories, and a silver medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Renowned for his speed, endurance, and love of the sport’s atmosphere, Danny forged an iconic partnership with British cyclist Tony Doyle and became one of the most successful riders in the demanding six-day discipline.

Even after a serious hip injury in 1983, Danny’s resilience and passion kept him at the top of his game, achievements that later earned him the Order of Australia Medal (OAM). His story is one of perseverance, skill, and joy for cycling, and we can’t wait to hear his insights and memories over dinner before we take to the roads together on Sunday.
